Of course, Yelp and Slack are very different products. However, there is still something to learn from their opposing new-feature release styles. Yelp uses a small, subtle tooltip that doesn't exactly explain the importance and function of the new feature. On the other hand, Slack's tooltip is far more noticeable, and offers much more insight into the function and purpose of the new feature.
